Reiki - What is it???

Reiki is a Japanese technique that promotes the flow of energy in the body. It is made up of 2 words, Rei and Ki (pronounced Ray-Key) which when brought together means Universal Life Force Energy.

This Universal Life Force Energy is all around us and is available to everyone.

Reiki flows through every living thing and is a simple, natural and safe method of energy healing. Reiki helps a number of illnesses and ailments by not only helping decrease pain levels but also helping relax the mind enabling stress reduction and relaxation to help speed up the healing process. It promotes balance within the body and has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and ailment and always creates a beneficial effect.

Reiki helps

  • decrease pain levels

  • you feel deeply relaxed

  • you cope with difficult situations

  • relieve emotional stress and tension

  • improvements in sleeping patterns

  • help to improve overall well being

Reiki is a complementary therapy that also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques. More and more Dr's are seeing the benefit that Reiki can have on patients to help minimise the symptoms and side affects of treatments and promote recovery. For this reason we are seeing more Dr's surgeries and hospitals welcoming Reiki into their practices and wards.

How does Reiki Work?

As mentioned previously, Reiki allows positive energy to flow into the body through the practitioner which in turn balances and heals the energy in the body of the client.

You can either lie down on a bed or sit in a chair for treatment and as you relax in the environment that you are in, the practitioner is used as a channel for this energy to come from the universe through them and out of the palms of their hands into the client by placing their hands on or hovering above the body.

As the energy moves from the practitioner to the client, the energy then begins to move through the client’s system naturally, directing itself to the source of any imbalances.

What can you expect from your Reiki treatment?

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. During your treatment you may experience;-

· A rise or fall in temperature,

· You may see colours or pictures,

· You may feel like you're floating,

· You may feel full of emotions and want to laugh or cry.

This is your body’s way of starting the healing process.

You may on the other hand not experience any of these things and this too is perfectly normal. If you don't experience any of this it does not mean that the treatment hasn't worked, as every client is different and even every treatment can be different for the same client.

The client will draw into themselves the amount of energy that they need to bring about the necessary changes.

A bit about me - Lisa - your Reiki Practitioner, Master & Teacher

I am an Accredited Reiki Master, which means I have undergone training which complies with the Reiki Core Curriculum and meets the National Occupation Standards.

What does this mean?

National Occupational Standards play an important part in driving up standards in health and social care, as they inform best practice and underpin the qualifications that are required for the regulation and registration of the workforce.

Or in other words, it means that I have been trained in all the necessary skills, and gained an understanding of Reiki to bring this wonderful therapy to you.

In addition to the Accredited Reiki Training that I received, I have also undertaken training through the Sam Buxton Sunflower Healing Trust, who are a charity that supports cancer patients and their families. Undertaking this additional training gave me an understanding of protocols that need to be adhered to not only within a Hospital or Hospice environment but protocols that I have put in place within my own therapy room setting, and also when I visit clients within their own homes.

Although, like many other Reiki course providers, I was able to pass the basic knowledge of Reiki to others in a teaching capacity, I personally underwent further training which enabled me to become an Accredited Course Provider with the FHT (Federation of Holistic Therapies). Undergoing this training, means that anyone wishing to take that first step on their own Reiki journey can rest assured that the Reiki courses run here at Olettesa Reiki & Holistic Therapies not only adhere to the same standards that I was taught but also go beyond those that need to be taught to meet the National Occupation Standards and the Core Curriculum for Reiki.

If you would like to know more about Reiki or you wish to take that first step on your own Reiki Journey, then please don't hesitate to get in touch. It'll be the first step on a wonderful journey that you will wonder how you managed beforehand.

Sending you blessings in love and light.

Lisa 🙏🏻🙌🏻💜 xx
